The Altos.

Yes, there are that many people in the band.  No, they are not Polyphonic Spree related.

I called Dan Spack (one of three guitarists in the group) this morning to ask if the band had a press release, or some such prepared text to put here.  I warned him that if they did not provide said information, I would be forced to wax poetic for a few paragraphs.

“Yes, do that!”  He replied.  Fantastic.  The Altos is hard to genre-fy, especially by those involved.

After the apocolypse the survivors will slowly rebuild the world.  Hopefully better than we did this time.  When survival is ensured, art will be made again, and the film telling the story of the death and rebirth of humanity will be soundtracked by The Altos recordings preserved in my vault.

The sound is huge, but not cluttered.  The Altos are masters of composition, pacing, and patience.  It is a small orchestra who will also rock your socks off.

Now we name drop.  This album was recorded primarily at  April Base studio in Fall Creek, WI, by Jaime Hansen (The Ronald Raygun) and former assassin, Brian Joseph.  Band leader Dan Spack doesn’t have a day job.  Also he’s in Collections of Colonies of Bees and Volcano Choir.

They have an incredible video here: http://vimeo.com/38969186
